Many of you will be aware of the the work of Tara MacArthur, who produced a series of videos on the life of Muhammad. I cannot commend her work highly enough, especially since she grounds every statement in her videos on sources regarded as highly reliable by Muslims themselves.
Tara recently released a new edition of the previous "Family of Muhammad" video, this time with a voice-over narrator instead of written text. Although the new edition is nearly twice as long as the first, it may be easier to digest.
Don't try to memorise the individual facts in this one. Rather, soak in the impression of the men, women and children who entered and exited Muhammad's homes; how his childhood experiences must have shaped him; and how in later life his mission as a prophet might have influenced how he treated those in closest orbit to him.
Tara collaborated with a new narrator, Frederick Truman, whose voice has been a real find!
Do check out ‘The Family Life of Muhammad’, especially if you are interested in how the canonical Islamic sources depict the life and times of the ‘prophet’.
Kind regards,
Peter
