My latest book ‘A Most Trustworthy Handhold’ (released last week) contains 49 short essays that seeks to answer the question of whether Islam can bear the weight placed on it by its devotees.
From the blurb: “The Qur’an confidently claims that by following Islam, Muslims have grasped a ‘most trustworthy handhold with no break in it’ (Qur’an 2:256). In this collection of some of his shorter writings, author Peter Townsend examines this claim from a wide range of angles.
Originally published between 2018-2021 these essays will give you a great introduction to Townsend’s views on the truth-claims of Islam, the links between Islamic teaching and violence and the historical reliability of early Muslim historical sources. All matters that are discussed at much greater length in his other works.
Shorter essays can be a great way to stimulate reflection and critical thinking. These are things that are sorely needed when it comes to the place of Islam in our modern world. So, join Townsend as he investigates the supposed ‘Trustworthy Handhold’ and the questions facing the Muslim religion and its claims.”
‘A Most Trustworthy Handhold’ is available in both paperback and Kindle formats. Click here for your copy. UK readers please click here.
